Violator--Waiting for the Night to Fall

I'm waiting for the night to fall
I know that it will save us all
When everything's dark
Keeps us from the stark reality

I'm waiting for the night to fall
When everything is bearable
And there in the still
All that you feel is tranquility

If you recognize the title or the words that open this post, then I'm sure you know who Depeche Mode is.  If not, shame on you.  Just kidding.  Depeche Mode is one of my favorite bands musically and their 1990 album Violator, is one of the best albums of all-time.  From beginning to end all the songs are first rate.

For a couple of minutes tonight I stepped outside and noticed how dark and cool it felt.  The silence was unnerving given my state of mind which is why you see the opening lyrics to the song "Waiting for the Night to Fall" from the album....Violator.  There are those who disagree and say "Music for the Masses" or "Songs of Faith and Devotion" is their best work (wrong), but it's their choice.  Still wrong.

Moving on.

There has been a cosmic shift in the very fabric of the American culture these past few years.  We have become a dark and brooding people.  Many towns and cities are experiencing a substantial rise in crime.  Gangs and drugs have permeated many areas of the country and are rising in number everyday.
Dark days are on the horizon for many nations on the earth.  The Middle East is a constant hotbed of fighting and turmoil.  China is now being seen as a future global threat.  Russia still clings to its communist past and is pushing for more power outside of their own region. North and South Korea are on edge about each other and who knows when that will ' hit the fan'.  No nation, big or small, is exempt from the soon coming worldwide calamity.
The prophet Isaiah says (60:2a) "For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people;"

Unlike the words in the opening verse "darkness will not keep us from the stark reality" of the world around us. The darkness will magnify the world surrounding us.  Evil comes out in the night but, the days are fast approaching where even daylight hours will be as the night because of rampant sin and immorality and crime and whatever perversion mankind can and will come up with to fulfill the lusts of their flesh.  Who can withstand it?

The rest of Isaiah 60:2 says "but the LORD will rise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you."
Only those who have made Jesus Christ their personal Lord and Saviour can withstand it.
That is the ONLY hope we have....J E S U S.
Looking at the social, political and economic history of the world, our current situation differs slightly from that of times past...we have more of it all at once.  Whether it be the United States, the European Union, Russia, Canada, China or Japan we are all being affected by the darkness within the souls of men.
I shutter to think what will happen when the hand of God is removed and their is no restraint to evil?  Not everything will be bearable and their will certainly be no tranquility.

Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a safe and happy Memorial Day weekend.  I know I did and I am want to express my thanks to all who have given their lives in service to our country and thank those who are serving in uniform today.  May we never forget their great sacrifice.

As I go forward with this blog post it will become apparent that this Memorial Day weekend has taken on a different meaning.

I am troubled by this turn of events, but not surprised.  It indeed is the beginning of a new era.
This weekend should be about the Veterans and service members who have given their time and lives in service for our country and I thank you.

As I said in the previous post, Pennsylvania has become the 19th state to legalize same sex marriages.
More shocking is the governor's refusal to challenge this decision.  At least currently.  Maybe he is studying his legal options?

Some people may read this post and assume I am against two people who are in love getting married.  I am not.  Nor am I against marriage.  If, if, if and only if it is one man and one woman.  A God established marriage.  This is not from God.

19

Pennsylvania has become the nineteenth state to legalize same sex marriages.  Governor Corbett has decided not to challenge the decision.  I can say with all certainty that PA will not be the last state to do so.

My Girl Friday

I had a late start to my workday on Friday so I decided to take go to Community Park and read my bible.  It was a beautiful day and many families with their kids enjoying the lovely weather.
Here are some of the pictures I took.  Enjoy!

You probably cannot tell from this picture but the trees are starting to fill in nicely with leaves and color.

Psalm 1:3 comes to mind with this picture.   "He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers
of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf shall not wither; and whatever he does will prosper."

Here are a family of three fishing away with 9 rods and nothing to show for it.  I really don't think they minded at all.

This is the first photo taken at Lake Irene once I got there.  All things a transitioning from lifelessness to life.

Just before I left I had a visitor,  Mama duck.  (Object you see is not as close as they appear.). She was pretty vocal coming out of the water and I decided to keep my distance.  Kids must be driving her crazy!?

Well, that was part of my day Friday and I hope you had the opportunity to enjoy the warm weather and spend some time outdoors.

A quick note

Good afternoon.  I went to mcdonalds this afternoon for a quick bite before work.  As I searched the dining room for a place to sit and eat, I noticed several people with their laptops, tablets and smart phones enjoying the food and the free wifi.

This is not an unusual occurrence.  If anything it has increased the foot track in the McDonald's that do offer free wifi.  The unnatural occurrence was when I opened my laptop case and pulled out a yellow legal pad and pen.  An very audible gasp could be heard.  My mind quickly recalled a commercial from a few years back with the people in a bakery (not sure) all checking out and swiping credit cards as they went through the checkout.  Well, one person gets to the checkout and pays with cash.  Instantly, everything stops.  The people look at this form of payment as outdated.  A few seconds later all resumes.

I'm sure you have seen far crazier things than what I just relayed, but I had to laugh at the looks i received from my fellow fast food patrons.

Good day
