I usually don't get inspired to write during a rain. However, this time I am. Usually with all the lightning and thundering going on I am cowering beneath something. (I cannot tell a lie). But this time the Spirit of God really touched my soul.
I'm not a scientist or meterologist so how and why these things happen I do not know. For me to speculate would be foolishness. Over the years people have said, the angels are bowling, or God is angry. One classic saying is 'God must be crying." I so not think I would go so far as to say that.
Man tries so hard to explain the things of heavens and the skies above us. How can they? 1st Corinthians 2:10 states, "But God has revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God."
Scientists have been trying to explain the 'heavenlies' for centuries now, although some explanations do sound plausible and some outlandish. Without the endwelling Holy Spirit, they are not giving the truth.
As for me, I do not need an explanation. It is a Heavenly Sound. Jesus says in the gospel of Matthew chapter 24:27 "For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the Son of man be."
No longer do I need to run and hide from sudden flashes of light and ear piercing booms. What once frightened me as a child, now causes me to rejoice in the Spirit. Why?
Jesus gave his followers a promise in the book of John 14:3, " I will come again and receive you unto myself."
When will that be? I do not know. Am I waiting for that day? Yes, a million times.
So, the next time you look to the sky and say a storm is coming, think about the promises Jesus gave us in the holy scriptures and lift up your head. HE may just be calling us home.
