Sarah laughed and so did I

A funny thing happened on the way to work.....

Well, funny in that i had to laugh, not funny something around me involving an incident.

A couple of days ago i was feeling weary and worn.  The goings-on in the world were not to pleasing, my job has become a job and I was just not in a good place physically and spiritually.  Having been in that place of 'self pity' and 'woe is me' before, I stopped and prayed.  I closed my prayer by asking God to send me some encouragement.   Simple enough.

Let me add that God is great.  No, GOD IS GREAT.

Yesterday I was in McDonalds and I saw a gentleman two tables down from me with some Chick tracks in his shirt pocket.  Intrigued by this I went to him and introduced myself and we chatted for some time about sharing the gospel and (clearing throat) encouragement.  :) :)

Let me add that God is great.  No, GOD IS GREAT

Today when leaving McDonalds an older guy pulled in on his motorcycle and as he did I caught the last few words of "God of Nations" by the Newsboys.  I stopped in my tracks and waited for him to get off his bike and introduced myself and we talked about the song and he too is a believer in Jesus Christ.

Sarah laughed because she could not believe that she and Abraham would have a child at their advanced ages.  Sarah mentions the reasons for such an a ridicules notion and God calls her on it and says "You will have a son."  We all know that she does, Isaac.
I laughed because of how I thought the form of encouragement would come.  Silly me.  I felt alone and often times I have tried to get other believers to go with me when I share with people about Jesus and salvation only to be rebuffed.   But God showed me that I am not alone in doing His work.  In less than the two day span I encountered two people who were out sharing Jesus and the salvation message.  Believer #1 said "I am led to because of the times."  Believer #2 said "look at the beauty around us and how nice a day it is."

Instead of looking at myself as doing the work God would have me to do, i focused on doing the work of God by myself.  Not nice.
So now you know why i laughed.  Perspective.
Enjoy your day.

Moses and I

How can one find sorrow amongst all of this beauty?  The greatness of God displayed and a
promised fulfilled.  The idea for "Moses and I" started with this picture.

My words will not do it justice.

Deuteronomy 34:4 Then the LORD said to him (Moses), "This is the land of which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying 'I will give it to your descendants.'  I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there."

I stood on the cliff and tried to take in the sheer magnitude of what I was seeing.  My mind drifted to Moses on Mount Nebo as he looked out at the Land of Promise.

"And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan, all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, the South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar."
(Deuteronomy 34:1b-3)

What was going through the mind and heart of Moses as he surveyed the land?
What a priviledge he was being granted.
In a way I felt as Moses did.  My heart welled up with joy and sadness.  The journey of the Moses and the Israelites was a foreshadowing of the believers walk today.  Too much to get into but I know you are following me.
When all is said and done, not all who started this journey from Egypt to the Promised Land made it.
Some rebelled and turned away from God.  Others murmered and complained and fell because of judgment.  Many more died due to unbelief.
However, all who stayed the course received their reward.

Before I took this picture with the bird (bald eagle) I prayed to God to let it fly towards me so
I could get a closer shot and as soon as the period ended the sentence the eagle flew our way.
Praise God.

This picture probably displays best what I was partaking of.  Being so high up from the
world there was nothing but peace all around.  All seemed so small and paled in comparison
to the grandeur of God's perspective.  I really wished I could have stayed there.
Moses at 120 years old belayed the same message, but God had other plans.
Unlike him my work is not done and I need to get back into the valley to try and lead others
to the mountaintop overlooking the Land of Promise.

O Happy Day

Yesterday my friend Lisa invited me to go hiking with her on my day off from work.  Naturally i said yes and we were on our way.  Below are some of the pictures I took as we trekked through the towns and to our destination.

Naturally we ran into a few roadblocks along the way

once we got going the scenery was beautiful

My favorites...celestial cities.   I don't always enjoy the works of God's hand.

We made it.  It's no yellow brick road, but it will do for now.  Lead on

Me being adventurous.  I however, did not notice the writing on the rock beneath me
before I put this picture in.  Oh well.

One of the highlights of our excursion was meeting a couple who were, believe it or not
hiking the Appalachian trail.  The whole Appalachian trail!!!  From Georgia to Maine.
  Not me.

Ms. LIsa and I doing a selfie

On our way home after about an hour.

There are a lot of beautiful lands in PA.  What a wonderful backdrop.

One never knows what they may find on the roads of life.

The end has come but do not be saddened, our next road trip is coming soon.

All Is Well

Please forgive me for falling behind on my blogging as of late.  My muse, DL, and I have not seen each other for more than 2 weeks and I lost my writing mojo (eat your heart out Austin Powers).

DL has returned and the stars are once again misaligned in my bizarro world.

P.S.
Be on the lookout for an added bonus blogpost about Moses and I.

Making you think hmm?

Moses and Darryl hmm!!!

Just a little added suspense hmm.

Enjoy (no hmm)

One more thing.  I will finish the last two posts from a series I started with my 6/23/14 post titled "Lead-in".  Part three "times of refreshing" will be online tomorrow and part four "potters wheel" will close it out later in the same day.

Adios

Taking It Wherever It Goes

I look for Your return when thunder fills the sky.
Sorrow fills my heart and a tear clouds my eye
The joy of expectation, the ache of loss
All my burdens taken at the Cross

O the Blood that can save the soul
You laid down Your life to make us whole
Arms open wide
God's love cannot be denied

This Is my Son, you can be too.
Wash in the Blood that was shed for you
Lay down your life on the altar of sacrifice
Wash in the river, be made whiter than snow

Come quickly I would ask, but we are not ready
Your will desires all come to You
Man's heart has proven them unsteady
A rolling sound pierces the night
Lord Jesus give me strength I'm losing this fight!!

Doubts will arise with the rising of the sun
My faith will arise with the rising of the Son

Your word is true held dear to my heart
It won't be made void
Thy return is close
Fill, with thy glory, the heavenly places

Do not hasten Your return
My soul doth protest
I need thee every hour
Fulfill the promise

Sweet Jesus Your name...
Above all others
Son of God...Beloved
Christ...Holy and Anointed
Saviour..for all mankind

Sweet Jesus Your name...
Stills the sea
Heals the broken
Makes the mute to speak
Open the ears of the deaf
Brings the dead back to life

Sweet Jesus Your name...
The saints will proclaim for all eternity

Well, my shift has come to an end. Faint not, I will be here again.  See ya tomorrow.

Let's Get Ready to Rumble!

Stoked for another day on the line with my brothers and sisters in The Lord.

Here are a few pics from the day.

We're baaaack!

Hello everyone.  As you can see the tent is up and we are open for business.

First, let me wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July holiday/weekend.
Second, this just may be me, R-Fed will win Wimbledon this year for the eight time.

I always get excited when we go out and do as Jesus commanded us to in Mark 16.
There is no greater joy than to share the powerful message of salvation with someone and
at times receive encouragement from passerby's (spellcheck no help) ourselves.

Well, that is all for now.  Gotta go back to work.  More later.

Danger! Danger Will Robinson

Taking a breather right now from blogging.  Got a touch of writers block.  Nothing to worry about!?
I have been working on two, no three specific posts and I'm having trouble finishing them off.

In the mean time I went to the library and checked out a book.  It was a collection of Greek stories written by Aristophanes.  My main read will be "Lysistrata".

Look it up and find the plot to this great work.
